The total value of the seizures is Rs 4.13 lakh.The autorickshaw, the car and six of the cellphones were recovered from the minors, while the remaining 23 cellphones, the laptop and the bike were found in the possession of the 19-year-old suspect.A Nigdi police team, led by senior inspector Ravindra Jadhav, made the arrests following tip-offs.Devendra Chavan, the assistant inspector of Nigdi police, said recently, police constable Mangesh Gaikwad received a tip-off about three youths — who could possibly be robbers — waiting in an autorickshaw near the Bhakti-Shakti Chowk. “Our team rushed to the chowk and took three of them into custody. They turned out to be minors. We also recovered two knives from their vehicle,” Chavan saidDuring interrogation, the boys admitted that they had stolen the autorickshaw from a housing society in Nigdi. “They had also stolen six cellphones from Wakad with the help of other minor accomplices. The car was stolen from Vadgaon Maval,” Chavan said. “We have detected three cases registered with Nigdi, Wakad and Vadgaon Maval police. Overall, we have recovered six cellphones, a car and an autorickshaw, collectively worth Rs 2.83 lakh, from the three minors,” he added. The boys reportedly committed the crimes whenever they needed money for “merrymaking.”In another case, the Nigdi police arrested 19-year-old Sandesh Patole of Talawade and recovered 23 stolen cellphones, laptop and a motorcycle, collectively worth Rs 1.30 lakh from him. “We have detected three cases including one from Nigdi and two registered with Chakan police,” Chavan said.“Our probe is on,” Chavan said.
