PUNE: Senior officials of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited PMPML ) stated on Monday that the procurement of electric buses would be carried out in accordance with the GCC (gross cost capital) model.With a senior PMPML official on Sunday stating that the both the corporations — PMC and the PCMC — were undecided on the acquisition of these buses, which will hit the roads on January 26 next year, PMPML director Siddharth Shirole told TOI today that making budgetary provisions for the e-buses does not arise at all."It is certain that the e-buses will be acquired in accordance with the GCC model. Some officials of the transport body do not have the correct information about the plan. The RFP (Request for proposal) for the new buses will be floated very soon. When it has been decided that the buses will be acquired under the GCC model , the question of funding by PMC or PCMC does not arise," Siddharth told TOI. " We are excited about the plan and both the corporations are also pursuing it closely. The buses will run on Pune roads by next year," he said.
