PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Around 12,000 residents of the Madhuban society area in Old Sangvi are irked by the poor condition of roads. The area has nine lanes passing by single- and multi-storeyed buildings.“The road near the entrance to the municipal garden is very slushy. Two-wheelers are at risk of skidding,” said one resident. Avinash Marane, another resident, said the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has been developing footpaths, reducing the width of the already narrow roads. “People park their vehicles on the footpaths. Fire tenders or ambulances will not be able to drive on the road in case of an emergency,” Marane said.“Any vehicle halting on these lanes causes congestion. Senior citizens like me are at a higher risk of slipping and injuring ourselves on the slushy, pothole-riddled roads,” Ashok Chavan , another resident said.“We have completed 60-70% of the work on the road in Madhuban society. The work had slowed down due to continuous rainfall over the past two months. We have created footpaths for the benefit of the pedestrians. People must not park their vehicles on the footpaths and cause hardships to pedestrians and congestion. We will be completing the remaining work soon,” said Shirish Poredi, spokesperson of the engineering department, PCMC
