If convicted under the section, the driver can be fined Rs 1,000 or imprisoned for up to six months.Gaware said that all these four offenders have been charged under section 279 of the IPC and the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. “Till date, seven traffic offenders have been fined by the court. We will continue our action against the traffic offenders,” Gaware said.Meanwhile, in the last 15 days, the Hinjewadi traffic division has taken action against as many as 19 motorists who were found driving on the wrong side. “Of the 19 persons, 10 are information technology professionals. Other offenders are cab drivers who ferry employees of IT companies in Hinjewadi,” said Kishore Mhaswade, inspector, Hinjewadi traffic division.On Monday morning, the Dattawadi police filed a chargesheet within four hours against a truck driver who was going the the wrong way on the road linking Shahu College and Gajanan Maharaj temple. Later, a city court fined the driver Rs 1000.
