PUNE: The city is expected to receive one or two spells of rainfall over the next six days.This was revealed in the latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), data from which showed that the city received nearly 3.5mm rainfall during the 24 hours from 8.30pm on Tuesday.“The pro-rainfall weather systems were active on Tuesday night. They helped increase the rainfall activity in many parts of Madhya Maharashtra , including Pune. Showers were also recorded in other regions of the state, such as Vidarbha , Konkan and Marathwada,” an IMD official said.The official said the rainfall is expected in the city and other parts of the state for the next couple of days. “A trough runs from Uttarakhand to north Madhya Maharashtra across west Uttar Pradesh , east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh,” the daily weather report of IMD stated.“Another pro-rainfall condition, which helped Tuesday’s rainfall was the cyclonic circulation over east central and northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining south Gujarat . But the influence of it has reduced as the system is less marked now,” weather department officials said.Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures in Shivajinagar stood at 28°C and 20.9°C, respectively, on Wednesday. At Lohegaon, the day and night temperatures stood at 28°C and 21.4°C, respectively. Over the next few days the maximum temperature is expected to stay around 29°C, the IMD forecast said, adding that the minimum temperature would stay in the range of 20°C to 21°C.
