Nine Ganapati mandals booked for noise pollution norms violation

The Kothrud police officials found three mandals playing music beyond the prescribed time limit.The officials of the mandal and others were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Environment Act and Maharashtra Police Act. At the time, they had issued a slew of directions and made an appeal to maintain peace. The police officials had categorically asked Ganapati mandals to adhere to the Supreme Court guidelines and celebrate the 10-day festival that concludes on September 23 in a peaceful manner.The officers of Chandannagar and Hadapsar police stations found six mandals using high decibel sound system during the festival.
