The police had granted members of the Ganapati mandal permission to access the immersion route in a particular direction on Wednesday.However, in gross violation of the rule, the mandal ignored the prescribed rules during the procession. This led to obstruction of traffic at various busy locations in Shivajinagar. In addition, the immersion procession witnessed participation of a disc jockey and a dhol pathak group, employees of a firm employees and bouncers in large numbers.The mandal office bearers and others were arrested for violating rules regarding the immersion procession route and unlawful assembly among other charges of the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Police Act. They were later released on bail. Pune: The Deccan Gymkhana police on Wednesday night arrested some members of a Ganapati mandal and others for obstructing traffic on FC Road and other locations after disregarding rules related to the route of the immersion procession.Apart from the members of the Ganapati mandal, the police arrested the owner of a private firm owner, who was responsible for organizing the immersion procession, a disc jockey and members of a dhol pathak group.The owner of the firm had installed a Ganapati idol at his office on FC Road.
