PUNE: Burglars struck at the residence of an Iran national at a high-rise in Wanowrie’s Kedarinagar and stole Indian and foreign currency collectively worth Rs 6.30 lakh on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. She had gone to the residence of her relatives when burglars barged into her flat on finding it locked and decamped with the currency. The complainant has not suspected the involvement of any person in the burglary.”Senior police officials have inspected the crime scene.The Pune crime branch is conducting a parallel investigation. There were two guards on duty but they were clueless about the incident.”“We are analysing CCTV cameras to establish the identity of the burglars. A first information report (FIR) has been registered by Surraiya Fallah Tafti (71) at Wanowrie Police Station.The elderly woman, who used to reside in a third-floor apartment, went to sleep at the residence of a relative on the fifth floor of the same building on Sunday night when some unidentified men broke open the door locks and gained access inside the flat.The burglars broke the cupboard lock of the bedroom and stole Indian currency notes worth Rs5 lakh and Dhirams (Rs1.30 lakh) of the United Arab Emirates.The woman found the locks on the door of her flat broken when she returned home on Monday around 7am.She found Indian and foreign currency stolen from the cupboard.She later registered an FIR against unidentified persons under the Indian Penal Code Assistant inspector Vikas Raut of Wanworie Police Station said, “Surraiya stays alone in the flat while her daughter is based in Dubai. She had gone to the residence of her relatives when burglars barged into her flat on finding it locked and decamped with the currency. There were two guards on duty but they were clueless about the incident.”“We are analysing CCTV cameras to establish the identity of the burglars. We are checking criminals on police record and working on certain clues.
