5 vehicles set on fire in Kasba Peth criminal held minor aide detained

PUNE: A gang of six youths , including a criminal on police records, late on Tuesday night created ruckus in Malvadkar lane in Kasba Peth and set five parked two-wheelers on fire.Prima facie probe revealed that a resident of Malvadkar lane had attacked the brother of the criminal, Jay Rajesh Bhosale (25), recently near Shaniwarwada . The suspect was charged with murder attempt and currently lodged in the Yerawada prison. “Since the attack, Bhosale and his accomplices have been creating ruckus in our lane,” said a resident, who did not wish to reveal his identity.A team of Faraskhna police, led by sub-inspector Mahendra Patil, arrested Bhosale, a resident of Mujumdar lane in Kasba Peth, and detained his 14-year-old accomplice. Sub-inspector Patil said Bhosale had four cases registered against him. They threw liquor bottle on the ground and left. “Around 1.15am, I woke up hearing the siren of a fire engine and saw the blaze in front of Siddhivinayak building,” the resident unwilling to reveal his identity said.“One of our neighbours said Bhosale and his accomplice had set the two-wheeler of the suspect, who had attacked Bhosale’s brother, on fire and fled,” the resident said.He said a total of five parked two-wheelers had caught fire. The value of the total loss was about Rs1.4 lakh, sub-inspector Patil said.Ghanshyam Soni, a resident of Siddhivinayak Society told TOI that is nephew, Kushal Soni, had come to stay at his house on Tuesday night because he had a cricket match on Wednesday. He had parked the motorcycle outside the society. “My nephew’s motorcycle was partly damaged in the fire,” Soni said.A scooter of Anita Sonawane, who works at a jewellery showroom, was completely damaged in the fire. “I will have to work for two more years to get a new scooter,” Sonawane said.The aunt of the complainant (Karade) could not hold her tears when she came to know that his motorcycle was charred in the fire. “We bought the motorcycle for Mandar (Karade) about two years ago. To pay the EMI, Mandar is delivering newspapers in the morning and then working in a two-wheeler workshop. I do not know why our motorcycle was set on fire,” she said.
