PUNE: The claim of a family that their kin, a 22-year-old woman from Vikaswadi near Alandi, was kidnapped by five unidentified men who came to their residence on Friday night in a car and forced her into it fell flat during a police probe. The Alandi police on Saturday declared it as a fake and fabricated complaint. A woman called the police control room on Friday night saying that the men had forced her younger sister to get into their car and sped away.She said they were walking outside their house around 10.45 pm when she was ‘kidnapped’. She then gave the police the car’s registration number. A case of kidnapping was registered on Saturday afternoon.A probe revealed that the ‘kidnapped’ woman had married one of men in the car but had not told her family. Her father was against their relationship and had not permitted the marriage. Her husband is a distant relative and wanted to meet her on Friday night. She went with him of her own volition.The woman said she got married in 2016 but could not produce a marriage certificate to prove it, the police said. She told them that she went out with her husband for a while and her sister raised an alarm. She returned home later in the night.The woman on Saturday dismissed her sister’s claims. The police, who said the woman now wants to live with her husband, may withdraw the First Information Report
