PUNE: Two men were booked on Friday for calling up the city police control room and abusing two women constables on January 29 and February 2.The police have registered two separate FIRs against the two callers and initiated a hunt to trace them. Both the FIRs were registered with the Bund Garden police “The two men had called up the police control room from their cellphones. We have their cellphone numbers,” an officer said.Both the callers are residents of the city. A source said their cellphones were switched off for the past few days.The police said the women constables were posted with the Pune police control room. The duo were answering to emergency calls from people in distress and were providing prompt services to them.According to the police, the two men booked for making calls to the control room abused the women constables and passed lewd comments at them. The two constables retaliated. On both the occasions, the callers hung up when the women police personnel reacted.In October last year, a person in disturbed frame of mind was arrested for making such calls to the Pune police control room.The calls made on the emergency number of 100 are diverted to the police control room. The police personnel attending to the calls of people in distress make arrangements to provide prompt services to those in trouble.
