NEMSS team wins at annual Sciencify India programme

Pune: The team from Deccan Education Society’s New English Medium Secondary School (NEMSS) bagged the prize for innovation at the annual Sciencify India programme held recently on the Azam campus.The young team was adjudged winner because of its optimal design and frugal use of material.Various competitions — ‘The Design Challenge’, ‘The Story Narration Challenge’, ‘The Storytelling Challenge’ and a fun ‘Comic Con’ — were organized as part of the event. The theme this year was: ‘Symphony of Emotions’.The event started with Ganesh vandana, which was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries.The cultural items were presented by the students of Classes I to X. They showcased the origin of music and the types of dances, both Indian and western.Prashant Ranpise, chief fire officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation, was the chief guest. In his speech, he stressed on the values of moral education, responsibility of students toward their parents and the nation. Principal Moushumi Chowdhury presented the school’s annual report, which highlighted the achievements of the school from its inception as well as the milestones achieved during the last academic session.Panchatantra Tales staged by Royaal KidsRoyaal Kids recently staged a show on ‘Panchatantra Tales’ in an initiative to revive the classic tales and the values it teaches children.The story staged gave the audience a social message to save trees. An important life lesson was taught where animals were the central characters. The activity helped students become more interested in learning different things and understanding how to integrate the knowledge with action by addressing problems, exploring alternatives and seeking solutions.
