The children fled their home at Khadki after school authorities pulled up two of them in connection with a girl’s one-sided love affair with a boy which became public. As per the police, two students aged 12 years were studying in the eighth standard of a government school. One of them had a crush on a boy in the class. She discussed the matter with a few of her classmates and soon the matter became the talk of the school. One of the students took the matter to the boy’s mother who approached the school authorities with a complaint.Incidentally, having hidden her feelings for long, the girl in love wrote a love letter to her crush ahead of Valentine’s Day which was kept for safekeeping in her friend’s bag. The school authorities summoned the girl and coincidentally found out the letter from her friend. The school officials asked them not to return to school until they bring their parents.Scared by the dictum, the two children who hailed from the same neighbourhood had a meeting in a playground and decided to run away. This was when a third girl, the student of another central government school approached them telling them she had had a spat with her family members. She also decided to join them and the trio packed their dresses discreetly. Not being able to find their children till late into the night their parents approached Khadki police station. They filed a joint complaint and police registered a case of kidnapping under section 363 of(IPC).“They boarded a train, ticketless and started an aimless journey. However, one of them carried a mobile phone that was switched on twice at Ahmednagar and Manmad respectively giving away their location. They did not steal any money from their houses and hence were virtually penniless,” said sub-inspector (Khadki) Jyoti Kadu. The photographs and whereabouts of the girls were circulated by police to their counterparts in other districts. Finally government railway police officials attached to Manmad station identified the trio, detained and fed them before handing over to Khadki police officials. The girl, who hatched the plan, confessed that she was severely ashamed that her love affair had become a matter of discussion. They were then brought to Pune and produced before a court on Monday.
