However, he survived, though with serious injuries.A police team, headed by senior inspector Vishnu Pawar, inspector Vishnu Tamhane, and sub-inspector Mahendra Patil arrested the suspects, who have been identified as 39-year-old Avinash Kailash Kamble, a Narhe resident, and Nitin Kailash Thopte, a 30-year-old resident of Dhayari.According to police, Kamble is a former sarpanch of the village.Recently, Meenakshi became the village’s sarpanch after defeating Kamble’s wife in the gram panchayat elections.Police said Kamble was perturbed with this political development and wanted to eliminate Vanshiv, who had worked hard for his wife’s election campaign.In the early hours of Wednesday, Vanshiv and his friend Prakash Tilekar had gone for a morning walk along the highway.Suddenly, a speeding car hit Vanshiv and knocked him down.
