We were informed of the accident by passers-by and rushed to the spot,” assistant inspector Shekhar Shinde of the Sinhagad police said, adding, “He would have lived if he had worn a helmet and if the barricades had been in a better condition.”“My brother would usually come home by 8.30pm. When he didn’t, on Friday night, we called him and he told us he would be late,” Rohit told TOI. “My brother would have survived had he worn a helmet,” he added.“We came to know about Khirid’s tragic death after his brother received a phone call from the police,” Rohan Pawar, a neighbour, said.Khirid’s last rites were performed at Vaikunth crematorium on Saturday.A Thermax company’s spokesperson said Khirid had worked as a site engineer in their Water and Waste Solutions division for the past two years.
