Madras Cafe was renamed Roopali in 1969.Shashendra had drawn up a fake leave and licence agreement which was not approved by Appi, the then owner of the restaurant, and submitted a photocopy of an older dated unregistered Rs 100 stamp paper.In May 2016, Appi grew suspicious of Shashendra’s intentions and felt he was trying to cheat her. The complainant’s grandfather had given Salil the power of attorney and a deed was also drawn up.However, Salil’s grandmother Appi passed away in August 2016 which created further complications in the case. “In 2018, I came to know that the leave and license agreement was forged by Shashendra and he had transferred various government permissions on his own name to run the restaurant. He had also transferred the ownership of restaurant,” said Salil in his complaint.Appi had appointed Shashendra as the manager in 2006 on a five-year contract.
