RAIPUR: Three teenaged boys fled a shelter home in the city, in the early hours of Monday, a complaint of which was filed on Tuesday.Initial reports pointed towards abduction, however police investigation indicates that the boys fled the home by breaking a windowpane of the washroom and climbing down using tied bedsheets as ropes. ChildLine in charge, Raipur, Praveen Sonwani said, "The incident took place in the early hours of Monday at Sankalp child shelter located in Shankar Nagar. The boys, all in the age group of 15 to 16 years, were rescued from the streets working as labourers or begging. The boys are from Koriya district in Madhya Pradesh and Samastipur in Bihar. It seems that the boys had been planning their escape for quite some time.""The boys broke a part of the wall near the window and removed the grills. They tied the bedsheet to use it as a rope to climb down. The incident took place at around 2-3 am. There is no CCTV footage of the three leaving as they used the back exit, which does not have a security camera," said Sonwani. He said that Sankalp child shelter took time to lodge a missing persons complaint as they were searching for the kids at railway stations, bus stands and other places they could have gone. After this, the police were informed.Police said that there is laxity on part of the shelter as the security system was not up to the mark and there was no guard on the day of the incident. Police however said that the investigation will cover all angles as there seem to be loopholes in the statements recorded and details gathered from the spot.
