RAIPUR: Body of a local model from Dhamtari district , Aanchal Yadav, 32, was found floating in a pond in Balod district on Tuesday evening. Police suspect foul play and have not ruled out the possibility of murder.The 32-year-old model used to work in the state capital and was a regular face at the gatherings of who's who in the city.Police said the body with hands and legs tied was found in a pond in Guroor region. The neck and legs were tied with a rope and there were injury marks on the body as well as signs of stabbing on abdomen. A big stone was tied to the body apparently in a bid to prevent it from floating. But, the body got entangled among the rocky surface and was spotted by the residents.Locals informed police and when the photo of the body was circulated on social media, some people identified her through the tattoo on her hand. Her identity was later verified by her family.It is learnt that Aanchal had left Raipur for Dhamtari on Monday evening and reached home around 9 pm.Mother of the deceased told police that as soon as Aanchal reached home, she received a phone call and went out to meet someone. She said she objected to her going out late in the night, but Aanchal left promising to return in half an hour.She told police that Aanchal went out with a biker whom she couldn't recognize as it was dark.While her mobile wasn't found from the spot, police said initial post mortem stated the body was in water for more than 12 hours which suggests that she was killed few hours after she met the biker.Balod police said they suspect the accused to be someone known and close to her. Police said her call details and social media accounts would be scanned for clues.Police said the model was very active on social media and was accused of blackmailing and extortion by a forest officer posted in Barnawapara over a scandalous video clip.She was arrested in 2014 and she had also complained against the officer for sexual exploitation on pretext of marriage.She used to work as life insurance agent through which she came in contact with the forest officer.
