Mother, brother arrested for killing model

RAIPUR: The brother and mother of the 32-year-old model, who was found dead in Balod district, were arrested for her murder.Police said, the two were upset with her lifestyle. In a fit of rage, she brought a kitchen knife to attack him and was injured when Siddharth tried to snatch it from her. Inspector general of police ( Durg range), Himanshu Gupta told reporters, the accused were identified as 29-year-old Siddharth Yadav and his mother 56-year-old Mamta Yadav, both residents of Dhamtari district.Police said, the model, Aanchal, had a heated argument with her brother during which she abused him. Earlier, the mother had tried to derail the investigation by saying that late at night, Aanchal left with a man on a bike, who she did not recognize. She had also complained against an officer for sexual exploitation on pretext of marriage.

During the brawl, Siddharth stabbed her and then strangulated her, leading to her death.He, with the help of his mother, shoved the body in their car and threw it in an irrigation canal in Balod district.The woman's body was found in the canal with a big stone tied to the body on March 26.Police said, they narrowed down the suspects based on technical evidence, electronic footprint, CCTV footage. The two were detained and questioned, when they confessed to the murder. Earlier, the mother had tried to derail the investigation by saying that late at night, Aanchal left with a man on a bike, who she did not recognize. She said, the man had called her and asked to meet, to which, she had objected, but Aanchal left anyway.During their confession, they told police, they were upset with her lifestyle and her social media presence.The woman used to work in the state capital and was a regular face at the gatherings of who's who in the city. Police said, she was very active on social media and a few years ago, a forest officer in Barnawapara had accused her of blackmailing and extortion over a 'scandalous' video clip. She was arrested in 2014. She had also complained against an officer for sexual exploitation on pretext of marriage.
