Man held for illegally possessing firearmRaipur Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a 51-year-old man in the State Capital for illegally possessing a firearm. A man identified as Haidar Ali (51) a resident of Noorani Chowk under Civil Lines police station limits was arrested in Nava Raipur's Sector-29 for illegally carrying an iron-made revolver said a senior police officer. Based on the inputs police launched a search for the man. Meanwhile on March 5 the capital police received information about the presence of Haidar Ali in Nava Raipur following which a team was swung into action and succeeded in intercepting him. During checking police recovered a revolver from Haidar Ali and he failed to furnish documents supporting the firearm.” In this connection police have registered an offence against Haidar Ali under relevant Section of Arms Act and produced the accused in a local court from where he was sent to judicial custody.

Shedding more information about the case the officer said “for the last few days police personnel were receiving inputs about a man identified as Haidar Ali frequently visiting Nava Raipur in a four-wheeler (CG 10 U 1498) and looking out for customer to sell a firearm. Based on the inputs police launched a search for the man. Meanwhile on March 5 the capital police received information about the presence of Haidar Ali in Nava Raipur following which a team was swung into action and succeeded in intercepting him. During checking police recovered a revolver from Haidar Ali and he failed to furnish documents supporting the firearm.” In this connection police have registered an offence against Haidar Ali under relevant Section of Arms Act and produced the accused in a local court from where he was sent to judicial custody.
