Two held with silver slabs, gold ornaments

Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday arrested two persons and seized 23 kg of silver slabs and gold ornaments weighing 81 grams worth Rs 22.31 lakhs in Mahasamund district. Mahasamund Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kukreja said the police intercepted a car at the Rehtikhol checkpost in the Singhoda area. The police found four silver slabs stuffed in two packets and gold ornaments inside the chamber under the rear seat of the vehicle. The accused said they were taking the consignment from Odisha to Raipur but they failed to produce any documents to back their case.
