Vermiculture empowers C’garh women

The women self-help groups (SFGs) in Chhattisgarh are becoming self-reliant by producing Kosa silk, an official statement said on Wednesday. Women have reported earning around Rs. 1 lakh per year through this. They said that earlier, after harvesting the Kharif crop in their fields, they had to look for labour throughout the year. The Silk Department has imparted training to make them proficient. Under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act, around 41,000 Saja and Arjun saplings have been planted in Raipur district to facilitate silk production.
