C’garh to implement Centre’s Krishak Unnati Yojana

Keeping in view the MoU signed between the state and Central governments for decentralized rice procurement, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday decided to implement the Krishak Unnati Yojana from the current financial year 2023-24. This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting here at Mahanadi Bhawan, Mantralaya, under chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. A government spokesperson said the decision to implement the scheme was taken keeping in mind the hike in income of state farmers and reduction in production cost for crops. Under the scheme, farmers will be provided a financial assistance of Rs 19,257 per acre, the spokesperson said. The cabinet also decided to form a State Investigation Agency (SIA) on the lines of the National Investigation Agency NIA). The SIA will handle cases of leftwing extremism and terrorism. It will act as a nodal agency to coordinate with the NIA. Also, the cabinet decided to restart pension to MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act) detainees and provide them the pending amounts too. As per data of 2018, there are around 430 detainees across the state to whom a total pension amount of around Rs 9 crore per year was provided. The arrears of pending pension would be released on November 1, an official said. The cabinet also decided to create a department of Good Governance and Administration for better implementation of welfare schemes. In another decision, the cabinet decided to enforce the National Education Policy 2020 in states Higher Education Department. The grade based assessment and internal evaluation under the policy will ascertain an all-round development of youth. The cabinet also decided to rename the State Planning Commission as State Niti Ayog. The cabinet also decided to target doubling the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the state from Rs 5 lakh crore to Rs 10 lakh crore.
