18 nominations filed for first phase of Lok Sabha polls

A total of 12 candidates have filed 18 nomination papers for Bastar constituency as on Wednesday in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh. The candidates are Mahesh Kashyap of the BJP, Kawasi Lakhma of the Congress, Narendra Burka of Hamaraj party, Kavalsingh Baghel of Rashtriya Jan Sabha party, Ayatu Ram Mandavi of BSP, Phul Singh Kachalam of CPI, Shivram Nag of Sarva Adi Dal, Sundar Baghel (independent), Tikam Nagvanshi of Gondwana Republic Party, Jagdish Prasad Nag of Azad Janata Party, Prakash Kumar Gota of Swatantra Dal and Raja Ram Nag of Bhartiya Saakshar Party. The deadline for nominations ended on Wednesday. They will be scrutinised on Thursday. Withdrawals will be accepted until March 30. Chhattisgarh will see elections in three phases on April 19 and 26 and May 7. The results will be announced nationally on June 4.
