16 Maoists surrender in Bijapur

As many as 16 Maoists, two of them carrying a cumulative bounty of Rs 13 lakhs on their heads, on Tuesday surrendered to security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Of these, Arun Kadti (21) was a member of the Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion No 1 of the outlawed Maoist organization, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said. Kadti, who carried a bounty of Rs 8 lakhs on his head, was involved in the 2024 ambush in Tekulagudem in Sukma in which three CRPF personnel were killed and 14 others injured. Ramesh Hemla alias Munna (42), who carried a reward of Rs 5 lakhs, was the Matwada Local Squad Organisation Commander as well as Area Committee Member (ACM). A total of 42 warrants were pending against Hemla. They were given an immediate assistance of Rs 25,000 each and will be provided facilities further as per the governments surrender and rehabilitation policy.
