Yahya Dhebar, four others surrender

The younger brother of Raipur Congress Mayor Aijaz Dhebar was among five involved in the 2003 Nationalist Congress Party leader Ramavatar Jaggi murder surrendered before a court here on Tuesday. Yahya Dhebar, then CSP Amrit Singh Gill, then Station House Officer V.K. Pandey, then Crime Branch officer R.C. Trivedi and Suryakant Tiwari surrendered to special judge (Atrocities) Pankaj Sinha. The court in Raipur had asked the convicts to surrender by April 15. But Dhebar and four others got extra time from the apex court to surrender. On June 4, 2003, NCP leader Jaggi was shot and killed in Raipur during the tenure of then Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. Two of the 31 people who were accused in this case --Bulthu Pathak and Surendra Singh – turned government approvers. A total of 28 people were jailed in this case, excluding Amit Jogi, son of the then Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.
