Court rejects Ranu Sahus bail plea

  • | Friday | 12th July, 2024

A special Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offences Wing (ACB/EOW) court here on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Ranu Sahu in an alleged coal levy scam money laundering case. ACB/EOW Special Judge Nidhi Sharma passed the order, ACB/EOW Deputy Director (Prosecution) Mithlesh Verma said. Verma on Tuesday urged the court to reject the bail application as ACB/EOW have filed fresh FIRs against Sahu and two others including suspended IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi and suspended deputy secretary Soumya Chaurasia. They are accused of amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income in the alleged coal levy scam.  After the arguments, the special court had reserved its order and delivered it on Wednesday. In January 2024, the ACB/EOW had named 36 persons including two former cabinet ministers in a FIR related to the alleged multi-crore coal scam. A batch 2010 IAS officer, Ranu Sahu and one more accused Dipesh Tank got interim bail from the Supreme Court on Monday.
