RAIPUR: Police have filed an FIR against a minor — a rape survivor who delivered a baby boy on Thursday — and her parents for throwing the newborn in the bushes.The infant was rescued on Friday morning in a critical condition but is likely to survive. Charama inspector in charge L D Diwan told TOI that they have arrested the man who allegedly raped the 15-year-old. The suspect, Akash Nishad, has been charged under POCSO.What's surprising is that the child's pregnancy went unnoticed even in school and she got a clean bill of health during a check-up under a government scheme four months ago. The — a class topper — attended school till the day of delivery, and none noticed that she carrying a full-term baby.Her Chirayu Yojana health report shows her as absolutely healthy. She was five months pregnant then.According to police, the girl hadn't filed a rape complaint till Friday. It was only after the delivery, when hospital authorities informed police that the child said she had been raped repeatedly by Akash, who was known to the family and was a frequent visitor. According to her, she has threatened her not to inform anyone about their "relationship".On Friday morning, villagers heard a baby wailing in the bushes near the hospital and found a newborn caked in mud and dust. They took it back to hospital, where the child was immediately admitted to ICU.A doctor said that when the child was brought in, his body was all soiled and his condition was serious after a night out in the cold. "The baby was suffering from hypothermia but he's recovering fast and responding to treatment," he said.Kanker police filed an FIR against the teen mother and her parents, charging them under IPC sections 317 — exposure and abandonment of child — and Section 34 (common intention).
