Rajkot: Former Congress MLA from Rajkot (east) Indianil Rajguru, who resigned from the party last month alleging irregularities in party’s functioning in the state, held a show of strength at his Nil city club on Monday. He returned from the US on Monday.Rajguru who contested last assembly election from Rajkot (west) seat against chief minister Vijay Rupani, alleged on Monday that some of the Congress leaders including Kunvarji Bavaliya had asked money from corporators to distribute tickets.However, there were no big leaders from Congrss who came out in support of Rajguru. Some of Rajguru’s supporters also urged him to return to active politics.Even before Rajguru landed in Rajkot, his supporters held a meeting in the city. “I have basic problem with party’s functioning. Congress party does not take decisions on merit but positions are allotted on the bases of recommendations.” He also refused to join Congress again. But said “Will continue to be part of active politics because of his my supporters’ wish.”Meanwhile, at least 10 members, who were said to be supporters of former Congress MLA from Jasdan Kunvarji Bavaliya, on Monday, were paraded by Rajkot district Panchayat president Alpa Khatariya saying that they did not support Bavaliya. However, six disgruntled members of the Congress from the Patidar community did not turn up as they supported former district panchayat president Nilesh Virani and not Khatariya.
