Rajkot: At around 6pm , some people saw the dumped body near Aji Dam and informed the police. In the meantime, Aditya Elegance showroom staff as well as family members of Vasant Zinzuwadia, who were searching for him since around 1:30pm , also reached there and identified the body at around 10pm.Police sent the body for post-mortem which confirmed death due to strangulation. The showroom staffers were anxious as his mobile phone was switched off since 1:30pm. As the news spread, police commissioner Anoopam Singh Gehlot immediately asked KK Jadeja to begin investigation as most other policemen were in the bandobast duty for chief minister Vijay Rupani’s visit. Jadeja started checking the footages of CCTV while PSI Kanamiya was asked to check call detail records of the victim.The first clue they got was of CCTV footage showing Zinzuwadia going along with Lathigra in the latter’s Innova car. As they proceeded, footages of other CCTVs on the road showed the car’s registration number too.At around 1:30pm, they identified the car owner and went straight to Lathigra’s house and picked him up for questioning. Police also recovered Zinzuwadia’s mobile from the canal and the empty jewellery boxes. DCB police inspector has been tasked with further probe in the case.
