Ex-sarpanch murdered outside temple

Meru Khachar (55) was thrashed with a bat by an unidentified assailant on Monday. Rajkot: An altercation over parking of a two-wheeler resulted in murder of former sarpanch of Salangpur village of Barwala taluka in Botad district. Khachar was supervising parking. The assailant was one of hundreds of visitors who had come on two-wheelers. On the day of the crime, thousands of devotees had gathered for a religious flag hoisting ceremony at Sat Hanuman temple,” said R K Prajapati, SI at Barwala police station.

He was rushed to Botad Civil Hospital but died there on Wednesday night. “We are yet to identify the killer, who eye-witnesses said was around 35 years old. His motorcycle bore Army logo. On the day of the crime, thousands of devotees had gathered for a religious flag hoisting ceremony at Sat Hanuman temple,” said R K Prajapati, SI at Barwala police station.
