Nature club seeks CM’s help to keep Balachadi beach clean

Sources said that nearly 2,000 Ganesha idols are immersed at the beach every year.Navanagar Nature Club president Vijaysinh Jadeja said, “The chemicals from the paint on the idols and other wastage is dangerous for marine life. Moreover, the students of high school and colleges volunteer in this activity along with the Marine National Park officials. Every year, we explain to people the importance of eco-friendly idols and saving the environment.

Rajkot: Keeping up with their tradition of over a decade , the Navanagar Nature Club in Jamnagar will clean up the Balachadi beach a week after the immersion of Ganesha idols in the sea.However, this time around, the members of the club have invited Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani to give impetus to their efforts to conserve the local ecology and marine life.Balachadi beach, near Jamnagar, is very popular among visitors because of its calm and clean sea. Tourists from across Saurashtra visit the beach.Navanagar Nature Club, with the help of volunteers, has been cleaning the Balachadi beach after the festival every year for the past one decade to save the marine ecology. Every year, about 2,000 people join the mass cleaning exercise a week after the Ganesha immersion.“This year, we have invited CM to join in the cleaning and make it part of the Swachh Bharat campaign. This will help create awareness among people,” Jadeja said.
