Rajkot: After experiencing tense moments for nearly three days following murder of local VHP leader Jayesh Gujaria, Mahuva town of Bhavnagar remained peaceful on Saturday. Police on Friday arrested 35 people for rioting and the market in Mahuva remain closed. The self-imposed curfew-like situation prevailed in some of the areas on Saturday, but there no incident of violence reported. After the condolence meeting of the slain leader late on Thursday mob vandalized shops and set on fire five shops, motorcycle and resorted to stone pelting.Police had lobbed 19 tear gas shells to disperse the violent mob. The main market in the town opened where local traders and members of Mahuva Chamber of Commerce and Industry he a peace rally.However, the mobile internet service remained suspended with heavy police deployment in different parts of the town.Gujaria was was stabbed to death on the night of October 23 by four persons over a fight during Navratri festival.
