Principal booked for Rs 20 lakh grant fraud

Rajkot: The principal of Padana Village Taluka School in Jamnagar taluka, who also administers nine schools around the village, was booked on Thursday night for allegedly siphoning off Rs 19.87 lakh meant for grants to the schools.The accused, identified as Vijaysinh Solanki, was booked on the complaint of P N Pala, deputy district education officer of Jamnagar.“Solanki, who absconded before the complaint was lodged against him, allegedly siphoned off the grants meant for scholarships to students, school uniforms and Swachchata Abhiyan (cleanliness campaign run by the state government),” said an official from Meghpar police station.
