Dog-bite victim thrashed by hospital guard

When security guard posted at the OPD tried to stop the victim, they got agitated and started an argument with the guard. "Manna said when she and her daughter protested against the "preferential treatment", the security guard started arguing and called some of her colleagues and locked them in a room. "Prasad further said, "The behaviour by the security guard is condemnable and I am going to set up an inquiry committee which will investigate the issue and submit its report at the earliest. "Cracking the whip on the unruly security guard, principal secretary, (health, family welfare and medical education) Nidhi Khare said: "The guard in question has been taken off duty with immediate effect as she failed to manage the situation with patience. ""I have also asked the officials concerned to write a letter to RMC authorities for the sterilization of dogs across city," Khare added.

RANCHI: The conduct of doctors and staff of hospitals on patients and their kin are under scanner in state after complaints of thrashing were registered against them. A female security guard of Ranchi Sadar Hospital on Tuesday dragged a dog-bite victim by the hair after an altercation.The incident happened two days after a doctor had beaten the kin of of a grievously injured victim in the central emergency ward of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) on Sunday night.On Tuesday, Manna Devi, a sanitary worker with the RMC was bitten by dog and she went to the sadar hospital for treatment with her daughter. In her verbal complaint, she said the security guard on duty was allowing patients inside the OPD as per her choice, instead of helping her in getting immediate medical attention.However, Ranchi civil surgeon V B Prasad said: "After a preliminary enquiry, I got to know that the victim wanted to jump the line and wanted a preferential treatment which was not possible as there was a long queue. The altercation ended after a police team from the Lower Bazar police station reached the hospital campus and settled the dispute.Station in-charge of the police station, S K Sinha said: "We reached hospital after we got information about the altercation.
