Sikhs protest against Ranchi trader murder, seek immediate action

RANCHI: More than 150 businessmen from the Sikh community along with representatives of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), the Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha and opposition political party leaders took to the streets on Saturday to protest the killing of a city-based trader on Friday night even as police investigations into the crime are underway.The protest was called under the banner of FJCCI against police and blocked vehicular movement near Sujata Chowk since morning. The protesters were seeking immediate arrest of those involved in the murder of Narendra Singh Hura.Taking cognizance of the incident, chief minister Raghubar Das summoned DGP D K Pandey and home secretary SKG Rahate after he spoke to the brother of the deceased and assured him of speedy investigation.Earlier in the day, SP (city) Aman Kumar along with SP (traffic) Sanjay Ranjan Singh tried to pacify the protesters but to no avail .
