RU to award first honorary doctorate in 32nd convocation ceremony

RANCHI: Ranchi University will confer its first honorary doctorate to educator and spiritual leader B K Mruthunjaya at its 32nd convocation on March 29. But this year, we had to wait longer as RU delayed its convocation,” said Riya Thakur, a 2017 graduate of St Xavier’s College. The recipient is the executive secretary of Bramha Kumaris , a Rajasthan-based organisation working for spiritual education.“This will be the first-ever honorary doctorate awarded by the Ranchi University in its six-decades-long history. “The students attending the ceremony will be given a sashes that will be put around their neck as a part of their uniform on the occasion. We are expecting the recipient, B K Mruthunjaya, a celebrated educator and vice-chairperson of the education wing of the Brahma Kumaris group to be present at the ceremony,” P K Jha, Ranchi University public relations officer said..The 32nd convocation of RU will turn out to be one of many firsts as traditional convocation gowns will be replaced with sashes.

We are expecting the recipient, B K Mruthunjaya, a celebrated educator and vice-chairperson of the education wing of the Brahma Kumaris group to be present at the ceremony,” P K Jha, Ranchi University public relations officer said..The 32nd convocation of RU will turn out to be one of many firsts as traditional convocation gowns will be replaced with sashes. “The students attending the ceremony will be given a sashes that will be put around their neck as a part of their uniform on the occasion. The distribution point is at the Physics department of the university and the students attending the ceremony will have to wear it along with the traditional dress prescribed by the administration,” Jha added.The 32nd convocation ceremony was delayed at Ranchi University as the administration could not decide the particulars of the Indian dress code mandated by governor Droupadi Murmu in August last year.Students of affiliated autonomous colleges of the university, including St Xavier’s College and Marwari College , are also awaiting the main ceremony on March 29, as they will be receiving their degrees in separate subsequent ceremonies.“Our college holds the degree ceremony each year in February. But this year, we had to wait longer as RU delayed its convocation,” said Riya Thakur, a 2017 graduate of St Xavier’s College.
