10 days after killing wife, Chatra man nabbed from Gaya rly stn

Chatra: Nearly 10 days after Kuldeep Kumar Dangi fled his residence located at Surahibag village under Itkhori block in Chatra after killing his wife, Savita Devi, on September 14, he was arrested from the Gaya railway station in Bihar on September 23.Sources said Kuldeep used to regularly assault his wife. On the night of September 14, he set Savita on fire after a quarrel with her. Kuldeeps mother, Diliya Devi, also suffered severe burn injuries while trying to save her daughter-in-law. Savita died on the spot, while Diliya was taken to the Chatra sadar hospital, from where doctors referred her to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Ranchi. She succumbed to her injuries a few days later. Savitas father Parmeshwar Dangi lodged an FIR at the Itkhori police station. DSP Kedar Ram said Chatra SP Rakesh Ranjan received a tip-off that accused Kuldeep was sighted at the Gaya railway station. The SP formed a team led by the officer in-charge of the Itkhori police station, Vinod Kumar, and additional sub-inspector (ASI) Bunty Yadav. The police team reached Gaya station on Saturday and nabbed the accused. Kuldeep was brought to Itkhori. He confessed to his involvement in the incident during interrogation on Saturday evening. Around 50 men took turns carrying Munarik for almost four hours to cover the four-kilometer distance. The incident highlights the lack of infrastructure in remote areas.
