Woman set on fire over land dispute, critical

Bokaro: A 38-year-old woman was set on fire at Bansgoda in Bokaro on Wednesday over land dispute. The condition of Ameesha Parveen, who is admitted to Bokaro general hospital, is critical, police said.The incident occurred on Wednesday when Parveen had gone out of her house with her son. Around 15 to 20 villagers attacked her house. When she returned home, the assailants set her on fire. Mujaab Ali, son of Parveen, said, I also sustained injuries while trying to save my mother. There was a land dispute with the neighbours over which they attacked my mother. Marafari police station in-charge Ashit Khaka said, We are trying to ascertain the identity of the accused. The Sabha spokesperson stated that the demolition drive was in violation of norms and the court quashed all demolition proceedings. The clash between police and Sabha followers occurred when the administration team arrived to remove "illegal encroachment" by the Sabha on government land.
