Lok Sabha polls: Administration promises free and fair polls, 1841646 voters to exercise franchise

After the announcement of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 by the Election Commission of India, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal addressed the press conference in the Collectorate Auditorium. 09-Date of issuance of notification of Jamshedpur Lok Sabha elections, last date of nomination, scrutiny, date of withdrawal of names. Detailed information was given regarding voting day, counting of votes, number of voters and other preparations. Senior Superintendent of Police  Kishore Kaushal, Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, PD ITDA  Dipankar Chaudhary, SDM Dhalbhum  Parul Singh, Deputy Election Officer, Priyanka Singh, District Public Relations Officer, Panchanan Oraon and others were present.   District Election Officer said that voting for 09-Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency will be held on 25th May and counting of votes will be held on 04th June. Under the election process, notification will be issued in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency on 29th April, candidates will be able to file nominations till 06th May, scrutiny will take place on 07th May, candidates will be able to withdraw their names till 09th May.   Giving information about polling stations and voters under the Lok Sabha constituency, he said that a total of 1841646 voters will be able to exercise their franchise at 1887 polling stations in the district, out of which 924246 are male voters, 917272 are female voters and 128 are transgender voters. The total number of polling stations is 1134.   To conduct the election process smoothly, 15 cells have been formed in the district, which include Election Cell (Communication Plan & Electoral Roll), Personnel Cell, EVM Cell, SVEEP, Material Cell, Expenditure Account Cell, Welfare, Ballot Cell, Vehicle Cell, Training Cell, MCC & Law & Order, DCC, Suvidha, C-Vigil, Media & MCMC, Control Room/ Complaint redressal & Voter Helpline, Observer Cell, PwDs Cell.     The District Election Officer said that on the instructions of the Commission, under the mandatory service, officers and employees of various cells will be made to vote through postal ballot before the voting day. For this, centers will be made in the cooperative college and collectorate premises. He also told the media persons that since they will also be busy on the day of voting, hence all the media persons can also vote through postal ballot. He also appealed to the media persons for cooperation in making 100% voters aware about the exercise of their franchise.   The District Election Officer said that necessary preparations have been made by the district administration to conduct a free, fair and peaceful election process. All the cells have been activated, which is also being regularly reviewed by the senior officers of the cells. Under the SVEEP program, voter awareness programs have been run on a large scale, in future also it will be taken to the masses and voters will be made aware for 100 percent voting.   Wheel chair facility will be provided for the convenience of voters with disabilities and those aged 85+. However, there is a provision of postal ballot facility for disabled voters and voters aged 85+ who would like to vote at home. Any voter or common citizen can get necessary information regarding their BLO and polling station through Voter Helpline App and toll free number-1950. Information regarding your candidates can be obtained through KYC App.   The District Election Officer said that the training program is almost complete and preparations are complete. The essential basic facilities available at all polling stations are being regularly reviewed and instructions have been given to rectify the deficiencies as soon as possible. Polling parties will be sent from two places, namely Co-operative College and LBSM College respectively.   Strict monitoring on social media   Jamshedpur    Senior Superintendent of Police said that as soon as the code of conduct came into force, all FST and SST teams have been activated. Intensive monitoring is being done at inter-district and inter-state check points. Instructions have been given to all the police station in-charges to carry out the warrant/ attachment action in mission mode. Prohibitory action is being taken under the Model Code of Conduct. He talked about keeping strict vigil on social media. Also appealed not to forward any kind of misleading news to others without confirmation from the administration, which could create any kind of hindrance in conducting the election process.
