Jamshedpur rallies for voter awareness, election song launched

  • | Tuesday | 21st May, 2024

In an inspiring display of civic engagement, around 5000 citizens gathered at PM Mall to participate in a vibrant voter awareness program, underscoring the importance of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The event aimed to boost voter turnout, particularly in urban areas, which historically show lower participation rates compared to rural regions.   The voter awareness event, organized in the premises of PM Mall, saw the active involvement of District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, Expenditure Observer Ish Gupta, Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, and trainee IAS officers. They were joined by other officials and members of the Sweep Cell, all dedicated to promoting electoral participation.   A key moment of the event was the launch of Jamshedpurs election song, Desh Yeh Aage Badhega, which was unveiled on the big screen by District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal. The song, designed to inspire and mobilize voters, received an enthusiastic response from the crowd, especially the youth.   The programs theme, Vote Karega Jamshedpur, 25 May 2024, resonated strongly with the young participants. They performed energetic dances and pledged to vote on election day, emphasizing the critical role of youth in shaping the future of the nation. The District Election Officer urged the attendees to bridge the voter turnout gap between urban and rural areas, stressing the slogan not now or never to highlight the urgency of voting.   Engaging the crowd further, a quiz on election-related topics was conducted, showcasing the high level of awareness among the participants. The event also featured performances set to popular songs, including a rendition of Chak De India, adapted to encourage voting on May 25th. The atmosphere was electric as both young and older participants danced and sang along, reinforcing their commitment to vote.   Addressing the attendees, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal highlighted the historical voter turnout disparity and called for a collective effort to increase participation this year. He urged the youth to bring their family members to the polling booths, ensuring everyone exercises their right to vote.   The success of the event was bolstered by the contributions of Young Indians volunteers, mall management, and social media influencers, who played pivotal roles in organizing and promoting the program. Their efforts were instrumental in drawing a large crowd and fostering a festive, yet purposeful, environment.   As Jamshedpur gears up for the Lok Sabha elections on May 25, 2024, the overwhelming response at the PM Mall voter awareness event signifies a positive shift towards higher voter turnout. The spirited participation and commitment shown by the citizens promise a vibrant and democratic election process.
