Tata Steel Jharia division Observes World Environment Day

Tata Steel Jharia Division organised several events to celebrate World Environment Day here on Wednesday  . All the activities were aligned with the ongoing flagship programme, Mission Life, of the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change. The activities were done in collaboration with the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board and Tata Steel Foundation.   The celebration started with taking a sustainability pledge by all the officers of Jharia Division. Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, Jharia Division, Tata Steel, flagged off a rally (Prabhat Pheri) from the General Managers Office to the TSF Office to promote a sustainable Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE). General Manager Jharia informed everyone about the sustainability plans of Tata Steel, importance of land restoration and advised everyone to take care of nature. Around 60 children and 35 employees wholeheartedly participated in the rally.    The Division organised painting competitions at the NIIT Centre of TSF in Jamadoba and Sijua group. Around 55 children took part and produced brilliant work of art on subjects related to the environment, sustainability, nature, and conservation.   A mass plantation drive was also organised in the Kalimela Open Cost Project area to encourage people to plant more trees, increase the green cover and take care of nature. Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, Tata Steel, was the chief guest of the event. Also present were, Barun Kumar Banerjee, Head Safety, Kousik Gayen, Head Planning, Pankaj Das, Head HRBP, Aman, Head Engineering Services and other officers and employees of Tata Steel and Tata Steel Foundation, Jharia Division. Around 30 employees participated in  the plantation drive.
