CM promises alternative irrigation amid drought like situation

  • | Tuesday | 2nd July, 2024

Amid growing concerns over the drought situation in Kolhan, Chief Minister Champai Soren has promised residents that alternative irrigation arrangements will be swiftly implemented in Rajnagar block, Seraikela Kharsawan and surrounding areas. Addressing the media during his two-day visit to his home district, Soren emphasized the urgency of expediting the plan to deliver water directly from the river to the fields through an underground pipeline system.   Chief Minister Soren arrived in Jilinggoda, Seraikela , for a two-day visit. While attending a private event on Monday, he took the opportunity to discuss the drought crisis with the media. Soren revealed that a comprehensive plan is in the works to tackle the drought in Jharkhand. This plan includes identifying several villages in Seraikela  district and implementing an underground pipeline scheme to ensure timely water delivery to the fields without acquiring villagers land.   "The pipeline scheme will be executed efficiently and effectively, ensuring that the agricultural needs of the region are met," Soren stated. "Our aim is to complete this project without causing any disruption to the local communities."   Chief Minister Soren also addressed the implementation of a new law across the country starting July 1. He expressed confidence that the new legislation would significantly enhance law and order, making it stronger and more effective nationwide.  "The implementation of this new law will bring about a more robust and orderly system, benefitting the entire nation," Soren remarked. Following his engagements in Seraikela , Soren departed for Jamshedpur and subsequently flew to Ranchi by helicopter.   The drought in Seraikela  district has posed significant challenges to the local farmers, who rely heavily on consistent water supply for their crops. The alternative irrigation plan, which involves transporting water from the river to the fields through pipelines, is seen as a critical measure to mitigate the effects of the drought and support agricultural productivity.   The Chief Ministers visit and the proposed irrigation scheme have brought a glimmer of hope to the residents of Rajnagar block and surrounding areas. Farmers and local authorities are optimistic that these efforts will provide much-needed relief and ensure the sustainability of their agricultural practices during these trying times.   As the drought situation persists, the implementation of innovative irrigation solutions and supportive policies will be crucial in addressing the water scarcity issues in Seraikela  and other affected regions. The Chief Ministers proactive approach and commitment to resolving these challenges highlight the governments dedication to improving the livelihoods of its citizens and ensuring food security.   With the new law coming into effect from July 1, and the promise of enhanced irrigation systems, the people of Jharkhand can look forward to a future with better infrastructure and stronger governance, paving the way for sustained development and prosperity in the region.
