Niti Ayog puts emphasis on BP, diabetes

  • | Tuesday | 9th July, 2024

At the Niti Ayog function of the launching of Sampoornata Abhiyan here in Daltonganj, when health indicator was being discussed for the aspirational block Harihurganj in Palamu, DC Shashi Ranjan turned towards the media bench asking them "How many of you people have got your BP checked recently?"   He didnt find anyone saying that they had their BP checked, which surprised the DC most when a voice came from the media bench that "Its low BP here in the press."   "It cant be. You peoples BP must be high." reminded the DC.    It was no frivolity but it was a message from DC Shashi Ranjan not to ignore either BP or diabetes as he said "I read somewhere that India is a growing capital of diabetes in the world." He asked for a regular check up for blood sugar.    It was far more serious than any humour  but it carried a lot of sense and sensibility when it was revealed by the consultant for the Niti Ayog Himanshu Joshi attending this function of the Sampoornata Abhiyan here that less than 3 percent people of the aspirational block Harihurganj has been screened for BP and diabetes when 60,000 people are to be screened for BP and diabetes.    Joshi asked the health official of the aspirational block Harihurganj to achieve 100 percent of screening for BP and diabetes here by September 30 when this Sampoornata Abhiyan will conclude on the day September 30.   For Niti Ayog health of men, women and children matters most.    As regards health of women district social welfare officer Neeta Chouhan made a very honest revelation that 13, 682 women are currently in the family way and a large majority of them suffer from anemia. She suggested they eat saag to replenish iron in the body.    Education too came up when district education officer Durganand Jha informed that there 43 primary schools, 35 middle schools and 10 high schools including 2 2 plus schools under the aspirational  Harihurganj block limits were enrolled students will be provided with books and facilities for better learning.
