Everest Summit 2.0- Conquerors to share experience in City

  • | Monday | 15th July, 2024

Climbing Mount Everest and reaching its summit is a dream for every avid mountaineer. Mountains are said to mirror the human spirit- unyielding, determined and capable of conquering the seemingly impossible. To celebrate this indomitable human spirit and to inspire hiking enthusiasts, more than 20 accomplished Mount Everest summiteers from across the country will soon come together to share the exhilarating experience of their extraordinary feat in the City on August 18 as a part of the Everest Summit 2.0. The event will feature a group of mountaineers and their unique stories of triumph. Organised by Ideate Inspire Ignite Foundation, its objective it to foster innovation, inspire creativity and ignite a passion for learning among individuals from diverse backgrounds. At the Everest Summit 2.0 the stories from these extraordinary individuals will serve as a reminder of the power of the human spirit of resilience and perseverance. Hearing their tales of triumph on the worlds highest peak will also inspire us in Ranchi to reach for our summits no matter how daunting they may seem, said Rajeev Gupta, Founder Ideate Inspire Ignite Foundation. The summit will feature mountaineers hailing from various walks of life- from cancer specialists to home makers from Merchant Navy to IAS and IPS officers- their stories of self- belief will serve as a beacon of hope for aspiring climbers. These include names like Tenzing Jamling son of Tenzing Norgay, Dr Murad Lala, Dr Usha Hegde, Bachendri Pal, Premlala Agarwal, Hemant Gupta, Satyarup Siddhanta, Tulika Rani and Sunil Natrajan among others. Also present will be Purna Malavath from Telangana who created headlines for being the youngest girl to summit Mount Everest at the age of 13. As a build up to the main event, a symbolic Runathon is also being organised on August 17 in Ranchi. This is an initiative to engage the people of Ranchi to walk or run with the climbers. Divided in two categories- Base Camp Run will be for a distance of 5364 meters and Everest Summit Run for 8848 meters. This is a new initiative where we want to give a platform to the locals people of Ranchi and introduce them to the beauty of mountaineering and trekking and also convey a message of how one can stay fit and away from all social evils. The remarkable climbers each with a unique story of determination, courage and resilience will share their life experiences and also delve into the challenges they faced to conquer the worlds highest peak. Hearing their stories at such events will go a long way in inspiring and motivating people to opt for trekking as an activity, added Gupta. Gupta had also organised a similar programme in August 2023 where 13 Everest Summiteers had gathered in Ranchi to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Everest Summit. As our Jharkhand is blessed with natural resources like forests, rivers, falls and valleys, it is a great opportunity to develop eco- tourism across the State. I hope that events such as these will help and empower our local communities to come forward and make their lives sustainable by developing appropriate infrastructure and facilities for tourist attractions, added Gupta.
