The ongoing Naxal campaign and Naxal activities in 15 districts of Jharkhand will be reviewed. A meeting has been organized on July 18 under the chairmanship of DGP Ajay Kumar Singh. SSPs and SPs of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Chaibasa, Chatra, Garhwa, Giridih, Gumla, Khunti, Latehar, Lohardaga, Saraikela, Palamu and Dumka districts will attend this meeting. After the review of the Union Home Ministry, 38 districts of nine states of the country are only affected by Maoism. These include five districts of Jharkhand (West Singhbhum, Giridih, Gumla, Latehar and Lohardaga). The central government has divided LWE (Left Wing Extreme) districts into three categories on the basis of Maoism influence. Naxal-affected districts have been placed in the first category. Those districts have been placed in the second category which are highly affected by Maoism. At the same time, the third category is of those districts where the influence of Maoism has reduced, but there is still a need to keep an eye on them. A continuous campaign is going on against the Naxalite organizations active in Jharkhand. 38 Naxalites have been killed in the last three and a half years (January 2021 to 17 June 2024) in different districts of the state. The Naxalites killed include Naxalites of CPI Maoist, PLFI, JJMP and TPC organization. During this period 1381 Naxalites have also been arrested. While 78 Naxalites have surrendered.
