Chief Justice Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi inaugurates Gram Nyayalaya in Baharagora

In a significant move towards accessible justice for rural citizens, the Gram Nyayalaya at Baharagora was inaugurated by  Justice Dr. Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court. The inauguration ceremony, held at the block headquarters of Baharagora, witnessed the presence of  Justice  Sujit Kumar Prasad, Principal District and Sessions Judge  Anil Kumar Mishra, and other esteemed judges. The event was also graced by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police  Kishore Kaushal, and various judicial and administrative officials. The inauguration commenced with a welcome song performed by the students of KGBV Baharagora, followed by the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Addressing the gathering,  Chief Justice Dr. Sarangi emphasized the importance of the Gram Nyayalaya in delivering swift justice to rural populations. He highlighted the Gram Nyayalayas role in ensuring that citizens who cannot travel to Ghatsila or Jamshedpur can access justice locally. "Cases punishable up to two years in civil and criminal matters will now be heard in the Gram Nyayalaya, sparing people the need to visit sub-divisional or district courts," said Dr. Sarangi. The court is set to commence its operations on July 15. Justice  Sujit Kumar Prasad, in his address, lauded the initiative led by the Chief Justice to make the judicial process more accessible. He recounted the Gram Nyayalayas Act, passed in 2008 and implemented in October 2009, which aims to resolve local level cases efficiently. "This initiative will enable people to spend less time in court and more time on family and societal development," Justice Prasad noted. He expressed confidence that the Gram Nyayalaya would benefit residents across 26 panchayats. During the event,  Justices distributed approval letters and assets to beneficiaries of various public welfare schemes, including the Mukhya Mantri Pashudhan Vikas Yojana, forest leases, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), and Self-Help Group (SHG) credit linkage programs. An awareness chariot was flagged off to promote de-addiction awareness among villagers. Additionally, the dignitaries planted trees, underscoring the message of environmental protection. The event saw the attendance of Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, City cum Rural SP  Rishabh Garg, along with district-level administrative and police officers, block administration, and local villagers. The inauguration of the Gram Nyayalaya at Baharagora marks a pivotal moment in bringing justice closer to the rural populace, ensuring timely and efficient legal redressal at the grassroots level. The initiative is expected to significantly benefit the local communities, promoting legal awareness and social welfare.
