Mango Stone Decorticator designed by BAU scientist gets patent

The Patent Office of Government of India has granted patent to Manual Mango Stone Decorticator designed by Dr Sushil Kumar Pandey, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural, Engineering, Birsa Agricultural University (BAU). Certificate to this effect was issued by the Comptroller General of Parents, Designs and Trade Marks, working under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Mango seed kernel containing high quality protein is used in different kinds of bakery products, food processing industry and cosmetic industry. This machine is likely to boost these industries by value addition  and simultaneously reducing time and labour costs involved in mango seed decortication. Dr Pandey said one unit of the machine would cost around rs 18000 thousand and 18 kg mango seed could be decorticated per hour. BAU Vice Chancellor Dr SC Dubey has congratulated Dr Sushil for this achievement.
