The State BJP has once again raised serious concerns about the increasing number of Bangladeshi infiltrators and the consequent demographic changes in the Santhal Pargana region. The State BJP delegation headed by State BJP president Babulal Marandi on Wednesday met the Chief Election Commissioner and raised the demographic changes in Santhal region. The delegation also comprised BJP legislature party leader Amar Kumar Bauri, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Pardeep Kumar Verma, Rajmahal MP Anant Ojha and others. The delegation apprised the Election Commission official about an unexpected increase in the number of voters in the Lok Sabha elections-2024 as compared to the assembly elections 2019 in various assembly constituencies of Jharkhand. The delegation informed the ECI official that on 16 July 2024, BJP State Vice President Shri Rakesh Prasad met the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand and gave him a letter, a copy of which is enclosed highlighting the demographic changes in State. The delegation also informed that in this context, on 28 June 2024, a letter was also sent to the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand by Rajmahal MLA Anant Ojha. (Copy enclosed) The points mentioned in both the letters are very serious. Due to the unexpected increase in the number of voters, the demography of Jharkhand is changing, which is worrying, hence its investigation is necessary. Hence, it is requested that you will try to get the matter investigated and take appropriate action. The BJP delegations visit to Election Commission officials assume importance as BJP has been claiming that State government, led by the JMM-Congress coalition, has systematically marginalized the tribal population in the area. Few days back BJPs national spokesperson, Tuhin Sinha, had raised the issue. The continuous decline in the tribal population, coupled with an unexpected rise in the Muslim population in Santhal Pargana, is a warning signal, Sinha had stated. The BJPs stance on this issue is likely to escalate political tensions in the region, as the party intensifies its campaign against the JMM-Congress government. The allegations of demographic manipulation and neglect of tribal interests are expected to be a significant point of contention in the political discourse of Jharkhand.  As the situation unfolds, the response of the State government and its efforts to comply with the High Courts directives will be closely monitored.
