In view of the seriousness of the upcoming monsoon and possible floods, the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department has taken a historic decision. The states 2.88 crore ration cardholder beneficiaries will be given ration for all three months - June, July and August - together, so that no one sleeps hungry even during disasters. After the instructions of the central government, the state government has shown promptness and issued orders for distribution of ration from June 1 to June 30. The department has directed all the district administrations that there should be no negligence in the distribution work and the beneficiaries should get ration on time and safely. State Food Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has clearly said that "injustice with the poor will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This is Hemant Sorens sensitive government and we are working with accountability." He said that he himself will monitor the distribution work and strict action will be taken against negligent officials. Ansari said that the state government has once again proved that protecting the interests of the poor and the needy is its top priority. He has directed an emergency meeting of all DSO, FCI officials, in which concrete decisions will be taken on ensuring the storage of three months grain, availability of warehouses, logistics arrangements, and quality of ration. Special instructions have been given that the grain should not rot anywhere and every beneficiary should get the right quantity and quality ration. Dr. Ansari said that the department is fully prepared to deal with every kind of disaster. The supply chain is being strengthened, so that there is no delay in providing relief to the poor in any situation. He said that "Our every step is for the welfare of the poor. We are engaged in serving the public 24 hours a day. The trust of the people is the biggest reward for us and we will not let it break." This decision of the state government is not only going to bring relief, but also gives the message that there is a government of the poor in Jharkhand - alert, sensitive and dedicated.
